Slow Internet surfing
I walk through a few problems which I have found affect internet surfing instead of wasting many pages on every item I have simplified the information and if you have narrowed the problems down to a particular area then in some cases I tell you who to call. I have created a heap of screenshots which were too long for this page and are available free in the discounted manual below
No more slow tape drives. Phew.
Computer Speed?
Can be one of the issues but how can you be sure. The best way is to test the internet speed on multiple devices. Breaking down the speed testing into different areas and checking the hardware will be the most effective use of your time.
If you like a simple rule of thumb any technology over three years old consider replacing.
I understand with all the uncertain times price is a problem. In some cases depending on the usage you could look at creating a chromebook from the old laptop or computer. Basically removing the processing mostly to the cloud.
If you have a standard laptop another suggestion is upgrade the harddrive to a SSD I have see this work a treat in a desktop and a laptop with a fresh install of Windows 10. Fantastic.
Browser Speed
Browser add-ons can slow the internet experience. You can check this by going into incognito or privacy mode and run a speed test. Most people run the standard internet browser that came with the computer. Try installing another internet browser and testing the speed.
You will find deeper information in the manual. Screenshots make it easier for you to navigate.
Backup before it dies.
background processes
On some computers there is a silly process hogging all the internet speed. You can sit there for hours looking for the process the problem. A recommendation is to remove the last program you installed before it became slower.
Another way to test is use the other user on the computer. Creating and testing a second user on the computer can narrow the processes.
Best fix for this if it has been ongoing, install Windows 10 on a new SSD drive and install. A fresh install will save you a tonne of time and money. You’ll pay $300 for a new SSD drive and take the old one out and connect it via USB to access your old files.
